This scene needs no intro. But Karl does. Every day the fog appears, playfully named by a social media account, because its always there in some form. This day thankfully it wasn’t too thick, at times it blocks the view entirely. I loved how the busy landscape changed from flowers framing my view, the modern bridge, and the huge mountains in the background.
What opened up in front of me was almost too much to take in at once. I had to simplify it greatly to fit it all in. Wildflowers framing the foreground, the Golden Gate stretching so wide no single canvas could hold both towers, hills rolling soft behind it, boats threading through the water below. Warm gold pressing through cool mist, color finding its way into every corner of the bustling happy scene.
There was life everywhere. The kind of busy that doesn't feel rushed — it feels full. That particular feeling of a place humming at its best, when the light decides to show up and suddenly you see it the way it was always meant to be seen.
I had to paint it.
